Cruising Cape Horn, Day 24, Monday, 2/23/09

Sunrise at 6:29 a.m.    IMG_3813 We are working on clutch purses in crafts class.  I want to finish mine by formal night on Friday.  We’re making scrunchies in crochet class.  Much of the day was spent looking out the windows.  We had pretty smooth sailing going around the horn.  It was about 50 degrees, but the wind made it feel a lot colder.  IMG_3830

Below is both ends of Cape Horn.  We actually did sail around it because they lowered a life boat and sent some officers to the island to get a stamp or something.  Ray was napping.  It was raining at times.  We had 15 foot swells at one point of the day.

I took the last picture from the TV in our cabin.  It shows the life boat coming back to the ship.  It was taken with the bow cam.

The casino closed tonight at 10 pm due to local legal restrictions concerning the operation of casinos in Chilean waters.  It will be closed for five days.  Our entertainment tonight was the stunning soprano voice of Annette Wardell.

There is always plenty of music to listen to throughout the ship.  Przemek entertains at the piano, classical music with the Royal Trio, Whiteouse, The Dimas Duo, Latin Fiesta Steve, Just Du-et, DJ Shanon, Piano Bar with Greg, and Dance music with Elite.
