Day 34–Tues., Feb. 8, 2011–Tauranga, NZ

Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, NZ IMG_2019

We made arrangements to join Ann and Lorrin on their tour today.  We had a wonderful day.  We drove by Mt. Maunganui Beach and then visited Kiwi 360 to see the fruit growing and taste kiwifruit wine.  We didn’t care for the wine.

We stopped at Okere Falls and saw Lake Rotoiti.

Along the way we saw some sheep going for a ride and resting.

We then went to Te Puia and saw the geyser & boiling mud.

We saw a Maori concert, saw woodcarvers and weavers.  We also went into the Kiwi house.  It had to be dark so they would stay awake, but it was hard to see them.  We needed night goggles.

We had lunch at Lake Rotorua, then drove through the government gardens and saw this resort with huge bocce court.  It was a wonderful tour.  We were lucky it was a cloudy day.  Thanks Ann.  This tour was 140 NZ dollars per person.
