Day 36–Thurs., Feb. 10, 2011–Wellington, NZ

IMG_2431  We didn’t have a tour today so we played Wii before we left the ship for a shuttle into town.  The local Port Authority offered the 30 minute shuttle.  It dropped us off just a short distance from the Cable Car station.    The Kelburn Cable Car ride is only six minutes long.  It is the only cable car in the Southern Hemisphere. The weather was great so we took the cable car first.  The views from the top were amazing.  There were botanical gardens and a cable car museum at the top.

We walked around town and everyone we spoke to was very friendly and helpful.  I got directions from a man in the bookstore about DVDs and where to find them.  We found Dick Smiths computer store to get the DVD-RWs.  I brought the wrong kind with me.  We also found a place with Internet where Ray cleared up about 500 emails.  The town was very clean.  We did see a sign that said they were selling mud cakes, but we didn’t buy any.  The ship docked right next to Wellington Stadium, built in 2000.
