Day 40–Sat. Nov. 5, 2011–At Sea, Indian Ocean

We are now sailing towards Exmouth on the western coast of Australia.  We were hoping to sleep in, but they called our number first to go to the mandatory Australian immigration inspection.  We had to go to the Hudson room for a face-to-face passport check.  Ray was still sleeping and I was in the bathroom when the call came.  Today is also Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night, marking the failure of Guy Fawkes and his conspirators in their attempt to destroy London’s Houses of Parliament in 1605.  It is primarily celebrated in Great Britain, and in some former British colonies including New Zealand, Australia, Newfoundland, South Africa, parts of the Caribbean, and Bermuda.  Although no longer an official holiday, many Australians still celebrate Guy Fawkes Night.  They decorated the Crow’s Nest.

In watercolors we used white crayon as a resist technique.  I skipped the sports activities to go to a couple of digital workshop classes on Windows 7 and Camera Basics.  Will is very good.  A quick lunch and then I had my hair done so I would be ready for our anniversary tomorrow.  We made another card in crafts and Shirley gave me some quilling paper because I had given her a small quilling.  I made earrings for her that I will give her at the next class.

After dinner Annie Frances put on another great show.

“If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it.”  ~ Herodotus
