Our 30th Anniversary Cruise, Nov. 3-11, 2012

NCL Pearl 1

Ship Specifications

We will be sailing on the NCL Pearl again for our anniversary.  The last time we were on the Pearl was April of 2010 in cabin 10601.  This time we will be in cabin 8598.  The passenger capacity is 2,394 for double occupancy and a crew of 1,099.  The Pearl’s gross register tonnage is 93,530 with an overall length of 965 feet, a max beam of 105 feet and a draft of 27 feet.  The engines are diesel electric and the cruise speed is 22.5 knots.

Our itinerary for this cruise is:

Saturday, Nov. 3, fly to Ft. Lauderdale and stay in Cambria Suites

Sunday, Nov. 4, use SAS Transportation to shuttle us to Port of Miami and we sail at 4 pm.

Monday, Nov. 5, we will be at their private beach in Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas from 8 am to 5 pm.  Due to Hurricane Sandy, there was some damage and we will probably skip this stop as it isn’t scheduled to open until mid-week.

Tuesday, Nov. 6, we will spend our anniversary at sea.

Wednesday, Nov. 7, we will be in Ocho Rios, Jamaica from 8 am to 5 pm.

Thursday, Nov. 8, we will be in George Town, Grand Cayman, from 8 am to 4 pm.

Friday, Nov. 9, will find us at Cozumel, Mexico from 10 am to 6 pm.

Saturday, Nov. 10, we be our last day at sea.

Sunday, Nov. 11, we will be picked up by SAS for our evening flight home from FFL on Spirit back to Myrtle Beach.

Our cabin, 8598, is a disabled cabin just down the hall from the 24-Hour Food Court, the Blue Lagoon.  We love having breakfast there as it is always served hot.  Our window will look out to the life boats.

  •      Things got off to a great start today.  When we checked in at the Spirit kiosk, they gave us row 1 – the big seats – for free!  They were very comfortable.  There was a gentleman sitting behind me with a black lab service dog.  I asked him if he wanted to switch seats, but he said they were fine.  The dog was so well behaved!  We did have a bit of a wait for the hotel shuttle, 50 minutes, but when we reached the hotel, our room was ready!  We are in room 506.  It has a separate area with a TV, couch and desk and another TV in the sleeping area.  There is also a refrigerator, microwave, wi-fi and a coffee maker.  The room is much nicer than the Comfort Inn, but the location is not as good.

  •         We walked down to Mr. M’s sub shop and had lunch and we will have dinner in the hotel.  Very happy we came in a day early.
