Day 25, Tues., Jan. 29, 2013 ~ Bora Bora, French Polynesia

We received a letter changing some of the details about our ports.  Napier will be a little later and Tanah Ampo has been changed to Benoa.  Also,  I had the wrong date for crossing the Dateline.  We will be missing Saturday, Feb. 2, not Feb. 4.  They also switched the formal night from Feb. 5 to Feb. 3, so I had to change my hair appointment.

We had a ship’s tour today, the glass-bottom boat which met ashore.  The tender ride was very easy today, nice and short.  There are locals that like to ride the wake of the tenders in their kayaks.  Again, the humidity was high on shore.  We are lucky, however.  All of French Polynesia had nothing but rain before we arrived.  We went to the super market and looked in a few shops before our tour.

The tour was nice, we were in the shade and there was a nice breeze.  Most of the coral was not too pretty, because of the environment.  When the diver went into the water to feed the fish, it was very pretty.  I got some good videos.

We did some shopping after the tour and then back to the ship for a late lunch.  After dinner the singers and dancers performed “Supergroups”, a celebration of some of the biggest groups and hits of all time.  They are good, but I was very sleepy.

“The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till that other is ready.”  ~  Henry David Thoreau
